Emil Raymond Telschow Sr. (Ray Sr) worked for about 40 years as a top engineer in the roofing industry. He worked for GAF between 1984 and 2001, retiring as Corporate Chief Engineer, overseeing all the dozens of plants throughout the country. The highlight of his career with GAF was in 1998, when he designed GAF's original Timbertex plant, where the idea of the need for a high-profile ridge cap was presented to Ray.
Emil Raymond Telschow Jr. got into roofing on the material distribution side of the business in the Chicago area, stemming from the ideas of his father. He worked in roofing for about 26 years. He worked bi-vocationally as a pastor as well due to a modern-day miracle.
Terry is the second son of Ray and Lana. Terry has worked in the New Orleans area in roofing for the last decade, including 2 years under his father, Ray Jr., selling roofing materials. Terry worked as a roofing contractor for 4 years on mostly historic French Quarter and uptown New Orleans homes and commercial buildings, specializing in natural slate and other complicated and historic roofing systems.
He was given an idea, a year, and a warehouse. A year later, Ray's brilliant engineering mind and a team of GAF's top employees had built an industry-changing machine that has been replicated across all major roofing brands. Ray Sr. finished his long and lucrative career with GAF in 2001 as a well-respected pioneer of the industry. He is retired and lives with his wife in Biloxi, Mississippi, at the age of 90.
On August 24th, 1986, at the age of 31, Ray Jr. was piloting an open cockpit airplane alone about 2-300ft over the fields of Lansing, Illinois, when the unthinkable happened. The airplane's control joystick broke off completely in his hand. He had no control of the aircraft and knew there was no possibility of survival. He lost consciousness, being overwhelmed with fear. He woke up alive on the ground. Did the plane land itself?
He was taken to intensive care to treat a broken femur and internal injuries. The next day, things turned grim. Ray Jr. fell into a coma. The doctors monitored his status with little hope of recovery. They prepared his wife, Lana, for the worst. Lana feared what her life would be like with just her and Ray III, a family without a father. Over six long weeks, Ray Jr. turned a corner and began to improve until he finally woke, not knowing who he was or who his wife was. 18 months of physical therapy and surgery finally led to Ray Jr.'s full recovery.
Ray Jr., a Christian before the accident, knew how that plane had landed. It did not land itself. The Lord God Jesus Christ landed that plane, and he would answer the call that saved his life. He became a pastor and fulfilled his purpose in life after the crash. He shared his testimony with many people and told how the Lord saved him from the crash and the whole world from their sins, through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. During this time, he continued selling roofing materials. People who knew him still talk about how loving, caring, and passionate he was about helping people and telling them about Jesus Christ.
In July of 2016, after a 5-year battle with prostate cancer, Ray Jr. passed on to meet God face to face. He was surrounded by his family singing praise hymns. Just a few months before his death, he was able to see his son, Ray III, take the head pastor position of the very same small town church in Indiana that he himself was a pastor of. He watched his own son preach from the same pulpit he had. His legacy was fulfilled.

He later spent 4 years working for a highly respected local roofing supplier, Roofing Products. This experience earned Terry a respected name in the New Orleans roofing market with a high level of expertise, professionalism, and reliability. Through this experience, Terry founded Raycon Contractors and has been contracting ever since. Terry prides himself on being easy to get in touch with and easy to talk to, and genuinely caring, as his father was. He loves to learn more about the roofing industry and ways to improve his business to make the roofing experience with Raycon unique and easy. He currently resides in Destrehan with his wife, Katie, their three children, and his mother, Lana.

Then a friend suggested naming it Ray. Of course. How better could I name my company than after the man who loved the Lord and the Word of God? Dad's loving character and his story are as much a part of me as any accomplishment of my own. Dad was the best salesman I have ever known, not because of his product knowledge or his ability to close a deal, but simply because he loved people and cared about them. You can't fake that, and neither will I. I loved my father, and I love the Lord after my father's example. I'm proud to be his son and to run my company the way he would have".
